The Diamond coming to life with pop of color as fourth annual RVA Street Art Festival kicks off
The blank, drab concrete panels of The Diamond are coming to life as we speak, and will grow ever more colorful throughout the weekend as part of the annual art event.
The fourth annual RVA Street Art Festival, a roving festival featuring local and national artists alike that has added color and flair to neighborhoods around Richmond, is bringing a major pop of color to the somewhat drab and dull Diamond this weekend. In fact, the transformation has already begun.
Local and national muralists alike have already been working to paint the concrete panels atop the rear of the stadium, bringing new life to the aging facility.
The three-day festival officially kicks off tomorrow night, Friday, September 22nd, and runs through Sunday the 24th.

Visitors can enjoy the variety of painted murals, see projection lighting displays, landscape art, stairwell art, “drone art,” and other forms of mixed media art at this year’s festival.
This year’s festival will also include a concert series, food and beer trucks, and creative activities for children and adults in the parking lot around the stadium.
Past locations for the festival, which aims to support arts education for children through community based events, have included the former GRTC bus depot, Manchester, and the Canal Walk.
The RVA Street Art Festival is free to attend as always.
