Despite increased police patrols of all the monuments along Monument Avenue vandals were able to throw pine tar on the base of the J.E.B. Stuart Monument. It’s believed that the incident took place either late Friday or early Saturday. The pine tar has since been cleaned up.

Last year three monuments along the avenue were hit with graffiti soon after Donald Trump was elected.
