Whitley’s Peanut Factory, a purveyor of peanuts and nutty confections for over thirty one years in Gloucester County, is opening its first retail location in Richmond this fall, the company announced Monday morning.

The new store will be located at 4101 Dominion Boulevard in a forthcoming shopping center adjacent to the Innsbrook Shoppes and will open its doors later this year.

Whitley’s specializes in gourmet peanuts–its flagship product being the company’s signature “Home-Cooked” peanuts, which are hand cooked and slow-roasted using extra large nuts.

“Richmond is a growing city and has a lot of potential for customers who would enjoy our products,” president and second-generation owner Todd Smith said in a news release announcing the Glen Allen store. “We love that the Richmond community really cultivates a culture of diverse foods and takes notice of the craft that goes into specialty-made products.”

The Innsbrook store will be open from 9:30 AM until 7:00 PM daily with extended hours during the holidays. Smith says a grand opening celebration is scheduled for early fall of this year, which will include store tours, giveaways, and family fun.

Whitley’s has embedded itself deep in the Tidewater community, engaging in ongoing partnerships with the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, the Bread For Life Food Pantry, both the Williamsburg and Gloucester-Mathews Humane Societies, the Avalon Center, and many others. Marketing Coordinator Victoria Revell says similar bonds will be formed in Richmond with the expansion.

“We would love to reach new people in the Richmond community while also developing lifetime relationships with our current customers,” she said.

Outside of its headquarters in Hayes, Virginia, the company operates stores in Gloucester and Williamsburg. Its products are distributed nationally in retail stores and through Whitley’s website.
