Downtown
Some overnight detours on Broad, 14th, and Main Streets this week
Plan accordingly if you use this route.
From GRTC:
Traffic signal work continues to progress for the Pulse project, advancing through intersections on Broad, 14th and Main Streets. This work is permitted during both day and night. As this work moves across streets and intersections, LANE Construction may implement some temporary overnight detours.
Detours will adjust each night as work progresses through the intersections. Drivers are encouraged to pay close attention to Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) signage indicating differing lane closures overnight in locations where the traffic signal work is occurring. Anticipated schedules are detailed below. For assistance, please call the Pulse Construction Hotline 804-980-0084.

All work is being done within permitting guidelines, including allowed noise levels. This traffic signal work includes cutting into the roadway and sidewalk at intersections. This work is for traffic signal modifications and the foundation for a Transit Signal Priority (TSP) system to expedite the buses moving through traffic signal-controlled intersections. TSP will improve schedule adherence and transit travel time efficiency while minimizing impacts on normal traffic flow.
It is important to note that field conditions can change rapidly and LANE’s goal is to work safely and swiftly to minimize impacts to the areas where they work. The schedule is progress- and weather-dependent. Pedestrian pathway detours and street lane closure signs will be posted accordingly. Please follow construction signage and be aware of construction workers and vehicles within the work zone(s). Pedestrians are advised to follow work zone signage in the sidewalk area. Travelers may notice temporary barriers while this closure is in effect.
