Richmond Greek Festival at Sts. Helen & Constantine Church

Opa! The Richmond Greek Festival is back for its 42nd year in the Near West End, and it’s delicious as ever. Enjoy traditional Greek favorites like dolmades, pistachio, moussaka, tiropita, and more, along with imported Greek beer and wine, music, dancing, and indoor market with local artisans and craftspeople. The fun kicks off Thursday at 11:00 AM and runs through Sunday evening. In a rush? You can beat the lines and order from the festival’s drive-thru menu all weekend long. We’ve even put together a handy guide at the link below to help you get the most out of the festival and avoid the long lines at peak lunch and dinner times.

When: Thursday, June 1st – Sunday, June 4th; times vary | Where: Sts. Helen & Constantine Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Malvern Avenue in the Near West End | Cost: FREE to enter, pay as you go for food and drinks | More info: RVAHub event guide

Conor Oberst and Big Thief at Friday Cheers on Brown’s Island

Arguably the biggest name to take the stage at Friday Cheers this year, Conor Oberst takes over Brown’s Island Friday evening. Perhaps best known for his time with the band Bright Eyes, Oberst will sing tunes from his new album along with earlier material from his long-running career. Big Thief will warm up the stage beforehand for this great night of music. Contributor Scott Castro has a great preview of what to expect at the link below.

When: Friday, June 2nd; 6:30 PM | Where: Brown’s Island on the Downtown riverfront | Cost: $10 | More info: RVAHub show preview

Broad Appétit in the Downtown Arts District

More than 75 of Richmond’s best restaurants and chefs will line the Downtown Arts District this Sunday for the 10th annual rendition of Broad Appétit. You can sample some of the best the #rvadine scene has to offer for $3 per plate and then vote on your favorite for the People’s Choice Award, to be presented at the conclusion of the event. Much like the Greek Festival, this event requires strategy and preparation to avoid the lines and maximize your food consumption time (but really!). Luckily, Richard Hayes put together a handy guide with 10 tips to help you navigate the crowds and graze away all day. Check it out at the link below.

When: Sunday, June 4th; 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Where: W. Broad Street in the Downtown Arts District | Cost: FREE to enter; $3 per sample plate at individual vendors | More info: RVAHub event guide
