Music at Maymont season opener

Music at Maymont kicks off for the 2017 season with Béla Fleck, a world-renowned musician. A 16-time Grammy winner, Fleck takes innovative forays into jazz, rock, classical, folk, bluegrass and world music – all with a banjo-infused twang. He’ll join his wife Abigail Washburn on stage for a duet you won’t soon forget. The pair join multiple Grammy Award-winner and MacArthur Fellow Chris Thile, a member of Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek–a mandolin virtuoso, composer and vocalist. With his broad outlook that encompasses classical, rock, jazz, and bluegrass, Thile transcends the borders of conventionally circumscribed genres, creating a distinctly American canon and a new musical aesthetic for performers and audiences alike.
