VHS tour will explore motherhood in Virginia this Saturday in honor of moms everywhere

It’s sure to be the mother of all tours at the museum.

The history of mothers and motherhood takes center stage this Saturday–for, what else, Mother’s Day–at the Virginia Historical Society.

The museum is hosting a tour featuring significant items in their collections, including The Compleat Housewife (1742), the first cookbook published in British North America; an early twentieth-century baby carriage used by several generations of the Wellford family; and letters from Fanny Scott, written 1863-1865, while she searched for her son, Benjamin Irby Scott, who went missing-in-action during the Civil War.

Tickets are $10 for VHS members and $17 for non-members. Advance registration is recommended.
