The week in brief
Hey there, Wrap readers. We’ve come to the end of yet another week, and St. Paddy’s Day celebrations are upon us–at least the first weekend of them. We’re still a week out from the actual holiday. I love that Richmond has so many of all sorts of varieties though. The first kicks off tomorrow–Shamrock The Block in Scott’s Addition.
If waiting outside in line for beer isn’t your thing, perhaps head to the Greater Richmond Convention Center, where you can wait in line for wine inside. Or go see the Harlem Globetrotters, or maybe some great local bluegrass. Find something fun to do with our Weekend Event Picks!
Did you know that 19 area historic sites are opening their doors for free this weekend? It’s all part of an event called the Time Travelers Weekend, organized by The Valentine. Take advantage of this and learn something new about our area and its history this weekend! In other history news, check out our Must See RVA feature this week on one of the area’s oldest funeral homes, built in 1883.
Come Sunday, you’ll have more daylight to enjoy events like these outside–don’t forget to set your clocks an hour forward before you hit the sack.
I’m mentioning this a little below the fold (I know, sorry–I’ll see myself out now), but here’s something interesting happening in town tomorrow–an origami meetup! You gotta love our quirky city.
The General Assembly session has wrapped up, but this analysis from our Capital News Service reporters sheds some light on what many folks consider a possible threat our state’s democratic process. A lot of bills died on unrecorded voice votes this session, and it’s nothing new. Check out the facts for yourself.
A mural of Bernie Sanders in Scott’s Addition will soon give way to another movement: the sharing economy. The Highpoint, as the building will be know, will be a collective of spaces targeted to creative professionals, BizSense reports.
Pass the butter! Early Bird Biscuit is coming back to Northside while keeping their Fan location open. Get the scoop on this and all the other #rvadine news you crave in our Weekly Food News.
Thirsty for some beer news? We got you, fam.
