RTD dines at Fancy Biscuit

Biscuits are serious business in RVA, serious and tasty.

Richmond is not likely to suffer a biscuit shortage anytime in the near future. The Fan has three excellent biscuit options. There is heavy hitter Early Bird, under the radar but killer ham biscuits J.M. Stock and the biscuits in top hats and spats Fancy Biscuit. Majority owners Nicole and Bryon Jessee also own the dessert mecca Shyndigz next door and the decadence of their desserts is often reflected in the biscuits.

RTD review:

The place was humming on a recent Saturday afternoon. A line of people spilled out the door and onto the sidewalk, waiting to try Low Country-driven foods heavily inspired by the Jessees’ years in Charleston, S.C.

The B&G ($6.59) was a popular order, speeding through the dining room with regularity. In the dish, three biscuit halves are shingled on a plate and covered with a classic white gravy made with two types of crumbly sausage: a sweet maple sausage and a spicy sausage.
