Scores of participants came out for the third annual RVA Polar Plunge Fest at Willow Lawn last Saturday to take a dip in the (not so polar) pool in the shopping center’s parking lot. A benefit for Special Olympics Virginia, participants raised over $40,000 for the organization’s programs.

With temperatures around 75ºF, the event was anything but frigid this year and concluded just minutes before a line of strong thunderstorms brought hail and cooler temperatures to the area. Our Editor Trevor Dickerson was one of the many who took the plunge.
