RVA Beer Explorer

RVA Beer Explorer: Legend Cleaning, New Lions, Raspberry from Hardywood, Tote Crafts

A mere sip of the Richmond beer scene but we feel these are some of the best sips.

Every year Legend Brewery gives the restaurant a deep, deep clean. That cleaning is going on currently. The pub will re-open on Friday and you’ll be able to see your reflection in the polished floors. It won’t last long so if you’re into floor gazing I recommend heading there this weekend.

I’m not sure when it happened but Legend also has a new website that looks pretty slick.

Facebook Event:

Our latest release, “New Lions” Blonde Stout is a collaboration with Clair Morgan. With notes of vanilla and roasted coffee, this blonde colored stout is deceptive and delicious. Clair Morgan and his band made national headlines earlier this year with the release of their album “New Lions and The Not Good Night” and definitely influenced this unique beer style. Clair will be performing at the brewery along with opening act Nick Howard on the night of the release and is sure to be a great time.

Some folks are anti-fruit when it comes to their beer. I would argue that stout is more of a food so fruit makes perfect sense.

Details from Hardywood:

Our award winning Raspberry Stout returns on Saturday, January 7th!

Brewed with heaps of chocolate malt, cacao nibs, and local, late season red raspberries from Agriberry CSA and Farm, Hardywood Raspberry Stout captures the essence of a decadent raspberry truffle in liquid form. A beguiling ale, this stout’s enticing cocoa aromatics build to a flavorful crescendo of full bodied dark chocolate, subsiding with a pleasantly sweet, tart raspberry jam laced finish. 9.2%

The party starts at 1pm with Raspberry Stout available on draft and in 750 ml bottles to go. Happy Empanada, NYStyleFood Richmond, Opa Food Truck and Shamasuki will be on site serving up delicious eats all day long

Just sitting a drinking while pleasurable leaves you with nothing but a nice buzz and an empty wallet. The RVA Craft Clique wants you leave your drinking spot with something you made with your own two hands. Head to Strangeways and you can craft a tote bag in case you have a bunch of loose totes that need bagging.

From their Eventbrite Page:

January’s RVA Craft Clique meeting starts at 6:30pm. Show up early to grab a beer or flight of beers, before we get started. This month’s project is suitable for older kid through adults.

Reserve a spot, by buying a ticket, and all your tote bag creation supplies will be covered. This ticket covers access to tools, but not ownership of said tools. This covers the above mentioned supplies for use on your tote bag while at the event. Your finished tote bag is yours to take home.
