RPS seeking community input on 2018 budget with public meeting, online survey
You can submit comments at a public meeting or via an online survey.
As Richmond Public Schools begins developing its budget for fiscal year 2018, the school system is providing multiple opportunities for the community to share its input.
Bedden will present the fiscal year 2018 Superintendent’s Estimate of Needs during the next School Board meeting, scheduled Monday, December 5th, in the School Board room located on the 17th floor of City Hall. The presentation is intended to provide guidance and insight to the School Board as they work to develop a budget proposal to submit on behalf of the district.
To engage the community in the decision-making process, the district will launch its annual Community Perspectives Survey on Tuesday, December 6th. This survey asks questions about the district’s budget as well as other aspects that could impact decision-making. Those who have a current email address on file with the district will receive a personal invitation and link when the survey launches. If not, stakeholders can take the survey by visiting the district’s website. The survey will be open through Monday, January 9th.
“We’re committed to giving our community a voice in the budget decision-making process,” said Dr. Dana T. Bedden, school superintendent, in a news release about the budgeting process and survey. “By sharing their priorities, our community will help us create a budget that provides all students the highest quality education and ensures we are good stewards of the community’s investment.”
Independent research and communications firm K12 Insight is administering the Community Perspectives Survey and compiling the results. All responses are strictly confidential. K12 Insight’s final reports will share only the overall findings and themes.
