Style Weekly dines at Sabai
It’s a rainy day and a bit of Thai food could turn those rainy day blues right around.
There are no shortage of good Thai spots in Richmond. One of my favorites is My Noodle by Joe Kiatsuranon. When he opened up Sabai I was expecting more of the same. I got more of the same when it came to delicious flavors but what was surprising was how unique each spot was and the differences in the menu.

Koa Soi Gai from Sabai Facebook
Style Weekly has a full review of Sabai and has much the same experience.
But Sabai makes good on its promise to deliver nonstandard dishes as well. In the entree department, koa mun gai ($12.50) is a simple trio of gently poached chicken, a cup of homey broth and a mound of jasmine rice. This is a dish that could make you homesick for streets of Bangkok, if, in fact, Bangkok has been your home — and maybe even if it hasn’t.
