Kendra Murden of Roosevelt, Impanema, Garnett’s fame is getting set to open Laura Lee’s at 3410 Semmes Avenue this Tuesday, September 13th. However this weekend some folks, ourselves included, were invited over for the soft Friends and Family opening.

Everything about the spot is charming. The waitstaff, the decor and the food we’re all welcoming like an old friend. The menu (sorry kids my photo of the main menu didn’t turn out) falls between Kinsfolk and the Galley. The kid’s menu photo did turn out and as  you can see has much better options than your typical chicken fingers and plastic cup of applesauce.

We had an original take on fish and chips made with tuna as on entree and blue crab on corn cakes with chow-chow as the other. While waiting we saw a wonderful looking steak head to another table. In fact, everything we saw from cocktails to desserts looked to be begging for a taste.

Better pictures of the opening night are up on the Laura Lee’s Facebook page so give a gander.

Above we compared the experience to being welcomed by an old friend, to keep that analogy going we’ll definitely be stopping back by after they open to see how our “old friend” is doing and what new dishes they have up their sleeve.
