Get on the bus Gus, or maybe not as Southside bus stop changes are coming

If you ride the bus in this area, you definitely need to checkout the list of proposed bus stop removals in the PDF below. This list is massive. There are 17  proposed bus stop removals on Forest Hill Avenue alone.

You have until September 6th to send your comments by various methods (listed below) including–thank God–your Fax machine. GRTC will be meeting internally to make their final decisions on which will stay and which will go.

Here are the proposed bus stop relocations for just Forest Hill. There are many more changes in the PDF below.

From GRTC:

GRTC is preparing to install new bus stop signs south of the James River this Fall. These new signs are taller, more visible, and feature more information about the routes servicing the stop. Public feedback about this new sign design has been overwhelmingly positive from the pilot routes (32 Ginter Park, 72-73 Ampthill/Ruffin Rd). Before installation begins, though, GRTC requests public input on Southside bus stop locations.

In preparation for this major sign improvement, GRTC staff inventoried the existing bus stop locations and evaluated them for spacing, safety, and customer use. GRTC is proposing to move or remove many bus stops in the Southside area to even out spacing and enable GRTC to improve bus stop amenities in the future.

GRTC requests customer feedback now through September 6 on these two lists.
