There is new smash burger in town and it’s nestled inside the Veil.

Disclaimers: I received my food for free, and secondly, I’m not a food photographer.

The Scott’s Addition Veil Brewing only went a few weeks without a food vendor in their tasting room. Yesterday, Remedy Burger was up and running. From my perspective, they hit the ground running and are a nice addition to Scott’s Addition.

Remedy comes to us from Stauton and is a newcomer to Richmond. They believe in the motto of keeping it simple and that is reflected in their straightforward menu. Which is very similar to what they offer back at the Stauton location. Currently, they are still in their soft opening period. Featuring dinner service Thursday, September 4th, followed by lunch and dinner service Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (Sept. 5, 6, 7, and 8).

The image at the top of the page is the Remedy Burger with bacon and Truffle Fries on the side. The burger was exactly what you expect in a classic smash burger. Crispy edges with flavorful meat surrounded by fresh pickles, onions, and lettuce. Shout out to the bacon it was excellent. We also had the classic with the sesame seed bun. The bun is locally made and while tasty, both of us dining thought the potato bun of the Remedy Burger worked better due to it’s smashability.

The Truffle Fries were more than enough for 2 or 3 folks and had the right mix of truffle sauce and shaved parmesan. The Wedge Salad was our other side. You can pretend it’s healthy because of the word salad, just mentally ignore the tasty, tasty bacon and buttermilk ranch. A fine alternative to the fries and gets a thumbs up.

I would be remiss if I didn’t point out the Happy Tray for kids, which comes with cheeseburger/hamburger, or grilled cheese, fries or go-go squeeze, juice box or chocolate milk, and a small toy. The toy is a little rubber duckie. I love the rubber duckies. I will probably order a Happy Tray at some point and pretend it’s for a kid but will eat it myself. Please don’t tell anyone.

Overall, we had a great meal and if we’re doing the Scott’s Addition stroll, Remedy Burger gives an excuse in addition to the excellent IPAs to head over to Veil.

Finally, one can’t go to Scott’s Addition Veil without getting a picture of da beer bear.
