Weather Forecast From WeatherBug.com

Three Things to Kick About

  1. Hot Ticket – The Ivy surprised me last Thursday by having over 4,000 fans attend a game where the weather was more than questionable. The fans were rewarded with a 5-0 win. Although they’ve only had two games the Ivy are on track to have a better attendance than the Richmond Kickers. The Richmond Kickers currently lead attendance in USL1 and had the best attendance last season. A pre-professional women’s team drawing more than the pro men’s is a proud moment and everyone involved should take a bow. Hopefully, this attendance will continue into next season.
  2. Second Half – I’m not saying you should show up late to an Ivy game but it’s much better than leaving early. Last Wednesday marked the first time the Ivy had scored a goal in the first-half. They immediately followed it up with their second first-half goal. Maybe it’s changed but I’m not betting on it.
  3. Kanna Matsuhisa – This VCU player (#5) has been tearing it up. Scoring 2 last week on the road and 2 at home in the 5 game romp against the Blues. Even when not scoring she is breaking through on the flank and causing issues for the opponents. It’s fun to watch this team figure it out and get the wins.

Prediction

First off shame on USLW website for incorrectly showing the Ivy’s record. If you go to the official website they’ve only had one loss. If you’re in the know, or know just a little bit more you’re aware that the Ivy are 2-2. Their worst lost came against the Mauraders on the road a 4-0 loss. At home the Ivy are undefeated. Also the trend for the Ivy seems to be WLWL logic dictates the next is a W. Christos FC however is a a worrying team. Although they have the same record, they’ve scored an amazing 17 goals. They did score 11 of those against one team at the start of the season. That stat is much less worrying after just a little bit of research and find out Pautuxent has a goal differential of -31 in three games. Other teams have put up 10 and 11 goal games against them as well. The Ivy beat the Charlottesville Blues 5-0. Christos FC beat the Charlottesville Blues 6-2. So it definitely feels like the two teams are evenly matched and have the same 2 win 2 loss record. What Christos FC doesn’t have is City Stadium and thousands of supporters. Richmond with an easy win.

Ivy – 3
Christos – 0
