Richmond SPCA’s 22nd Annual Dog Jog, 5K and Block Party

Given the amount of rain expected and the fact that it is projected to occur all afternoon and into the evening, the free Block Party, Marketplace, and Kids’ Fun Run will be on Sunday.

Join thousands of animal lovers for the 22nd Annual Dog Jog, 5K and Block Party, presented by Holiday Barn Pet Resorts and benefiting the Richmond SPCA! Participate in person or select the “run anywhere” option. RVA’s favorite family- and pet-friendly event is BACK!

Expect a day packed with fun activities for the whole family. The day begins with a chip-timed 5K (3.1 mile) at 10 a.m. for people only, followed by the Little Paws Fun Run for kids ages 4 to 10 at 11 a.m. and then a leisurely 1-mile Dog Jog at 11:30 a.m. before our Block Party, which is free to attend, kicks off at noon. Throughout the morning, we host our outdoor Marketplace at our Robins-Starr Humane Center, featuring live music, beer/wine trucks, pet-friendly crafts and local retailers. Plus, don’t miss out on stopping by our Kids’ Fun Zone and a Pets’ Fun Zone — it has fun activities for everyone.

Your participation makes a lifesaving difference to pets in need. All net proceeds aid in our efforts to rescue and rehabilitate homeless animals and to deliver crucial programs to pets and the people who love them.

Weather Related UPDATE

Remember when we said, “Rain or Shine!?” Well, we meant it! But what if shine was an option?

We’ve been carefully monitoring the weather conditions for Saturday and forecasts of heavy rain later in the day are worsening. ☹️ The Dog Jog and 5K is always a rain or shine event, so the show must go on! The 5K is still scheduled to start at 10 a.m., and the Dog Jog will follow at 11:30 a.m. on SATURDAY.

Given the amount of rain expected and the fact that it is projected to occur all afternoon and into the evening, we have made the decision to reschedule the free Block Party, Marketplace, and Kids’ Fun Run portions of the event for Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Whatever your plans are (or were) for this weekend, we hope the Dog Jog, 5k and/or Block Party continue to be among them. we are incredibly grateful to you and our entre communitv for your support, patience, and understanding. The homeless pets in our care, as well as the thousands more we will care for this year, thank you, too. While your Richmond SPCA team has had to make a few unexpected shifts these past two days, we are counting our lucky stars that we live and work among such an amazing community of dedicated animal lovers! 🐾💙
