Island Shrimp Co. at Rocketts Landing Opening May 14

We have a river running through our city yet the opportunities to eat/drink with a river view are extremely limited. We’re getting a river viewing spot back in a couple weeks.

On Saturday, May 14, local restaurant group HOUSEpitality Family will open the second Island Shrimp Co. location at Rocketts Landing.

Located next to The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing, Island Shrimp Co. offers flavors of the tropics for a city-inspired port-to-plate experience in an artistic seaside environment. The first Island Shrimp Co. location opened in the Chesterfield Towne Center in 2019.

“We’re excited to bring ISCo’s signature island vibes to the Rocketts Landing community and show guests what our talented team has created in this new space,” said Paige Healy, Chief Creative Officer of HOUSEpitality Family restaurant group. “Our menu will showcase a mix of new and signature dishes, like the Aloha pineapple boat, alongside fresh and inventive cocktails, all inspired by the tropics.”

Menu items will include favorites like garlic shrimp, lumpia and lobster and shrimp fried rice and the drink menu will feature beach-inspired cocktails like the hurricane, painkiller, mojito and the ISCO-original Blue Typhoon.

Designed by Haus of León, the restaurant draws inspiration from travels abroad. Cocktails are reminiscent of relaxing after a day of sailing at Cooper Island Rum Bar in BVI. The ink-dipped blue floor is inspired by the water lines on a boat peeking out above the waves.

The staircase leading to Island Shrimp Co. from the Capitol Trail will be painted with a mural inspired by the North Shore Pipeline by Ben Slay’s art collaborative OCD. As guests climb the stairs, there will be a visual impression of the guest traveling into the barrel of a wave.

Island Shrimp Co. offers an indoor dining area that seats 88, an indoor bar seating for 17 and an outdoor patio that seats 80 and overlooks the James River. The restaurant and bar will be open for dinner service initially with lunch service starting in late May. Guests can visit www.islandshrimpco.com and the restaurant’s social channels for up-to-date hours information. Reservations for the restaurant can be made via OpenTable.

Island Shrimp Co. is continuing to hire for several positions, including cooks, servers, bartenders, hosts, dishwashers and support staff. Those interested in applying for a position at the new Island Shrimp Co. can visit www.growwiththefam.com.
