On the Radar

Bulls Broncs Barrels – Pro rodeo is in Doswell this weekend. There bull riding, bronc riding, and barrel racing. No barrels won’t be racing. You’ll see riders zip around barrels at a frankly frightening rate of speed. This event is rain or shine so the rain on Saturday won’t keep a cowboy or cowgal down.

  • Meadow Event Park | 13048 Meadow Farm Rd Doswell  | 8pm, Friday – Saturday, Aug. 6-7th | $10-$15 | Tickets

Carytown Watermelon Festival – The festival of watermelon is back. If walking down Cary Street with thousands and thousands of others while munching on watermelon is your jam get ready. With 80 musicians, over 100 exhibitors, one of the largest kids areas of any festival on the east coast and all of the great Carytown style, the Carytown Watermelon Festival has become the largest one-day festival in the state of Virginia.

  • Carytown | Pretty much all of Cary Street in Carytown | 10am-6pm, Sunday, Aug. 8th | Free | Official Website
