Massive Peaceful Rally Tuesday at Lee Monument

Tuesday’s rally was much different from Monday’s rally.

Earlier in the day, on Tuesday Mayor Stoney held a meeting with citizens to apologize for police teargassing a peaceful rally Monday at Lee Monument. The meeting was a mixed bag, with the president often being shouted over and other than promises that it wouldn’t happen again, no enforcing of the curfew if the rally remained peaceful, and the officers firing the tear gas would be disciplined. The mayor did state he would march with protestors that evening. He kept his promise and marched from City Hall to Lee Monument. After a few words he left to a chorus of mainly boos and cries for him to stay with the protestors.

The crowd at the rally was one of the largest so far.
