Daily Planet Health Services recognized as Health Quality Innovator of the Year
Daily Planet Health Services was selected as a winner in the population health category for its work to improve the health of patients and communities through prevention and treatment of chronic disease.
Daily Planet Health Services recently was recognized as a Health Quality Innovator of the Year for Virginia. The award was presented by Health Quality Innovators (HQI), an independent, non-profit consulting organization. The Health Quality Innovator Awards are HQI’s program for gathering and sharing the best evidence-based, practical methods for enhancing quality of care across physician practices, hospitals and long-term care facilities.
Daily Planet Health Services was selected as a winner in the population health category for its work to improve the health of patients and communities through prevention and treatment of chronic disease.
“We’re incredibly proud to be recognized as a Health Quality Innovator of the Year,” said Helena Deligt, chief operating officer, Daily Planet Health Services. “This is truly a collaborative effort among an incredible team of people working to improve the health of this community.”
Through its Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program, Daily Planet is providing quality treatment for individuals living with opioid use disorder. MAT combines behavioral therapy and medications to provide a “whole-person” approach to treat substance abuse. Within a year of launch, Daily Planet reached participant capacity. They worked with the manufacturer of Evizio, a medication used during opioid emergencies, which donated 200 units valued at $4,100. The program has also shown promising results on participants’ quality of life as reported by two patient champions who participated in the program.
“The Health Quality Innovator of the Year Awards represent HQI’s commitment to improving health care in communities across the region. We recognize health care organizations that deliver better care, better population health, and lower health care costs,” said Donald A. Glozer, MHA, FACHE, President & CEO, HQI.
