RVA Clean Sweep, Friends of Forest Hill Park and the Reedy Creek Coalition are calling on all the little Super Heroes in the neighborhood to fight litter in Forest Hill Park on Sunday. The clean-up starts at 12:45 and lasts until 2:15, meet at the gazebo at Forest Hill Park Lake.
I’m hoping someone will be dressed as Captain Planet.
On Sunday, October 6, we’re partnering with Reedy Creek Coalition (RCC) & Friends of Forest Hill Park! We will meet at the gazebo on the lake.
We will be hosting a 75-90 minute SUPER HERO cleanup on land in Forest Hill Park. Yes, this means dressing up as your favorite character and picking up litter! Costumes are optional 😉
At the same time, RCC will be conducting a citizen science project in the lake. They will be measuring the depth of the water at defined points across the lake. The technical term is BATHYMETRY. They will also have a rock activity for kids.
This is a great opportunity for kids to learn more about their watershed and get some volunteering in!
Please note, costumes should not interfere with being able to walk in the park or see. Let’s have fun and be safe 😉
All supplies will be provided. However, if your kids have gardening gloves bring them. We have a limit number of small gloves.
