GO DO THIS

Beer & Wine Classic, Friday, Maymont

I would rename this the Beer, Wine, Goat, Bear & Victorian Mansion Classic. There is a reason folks like me aren’t asked to name things like this and the reason is it’s too much awesome sauce.

Derby Day Pre-Party – Friday, Hardywood (Ownby Lane)

Not entirely sure what races they’re talking about but let’s be honest we’re only going for the derby hat contest and the beer.

5 races, 5 opportunities for your horse to win!

We’ll have raffle prizes, derby hat contest, food from Charm City Crab Cakes RVA, and our beer.

Want your own horse? Buy the right to name one of the racers, all proceeds benefit US Equine Rescue League: RVA.

Wear your fanciest hat, bet on the horses, win big!

The mission of the US Equine Rescue League is to save, protect, and rehabilitate equines in need. We rescue abused, neglected, or abandoned equines; provide them with care and rehabilitation; and finally find them a compatible, loving home. We believe that education is the long-term solution to improving the lives of equines.

Barkitecture 2019 – Saturday, Ardent

This brewery has gone to the dogs for a good cause.

Sour & Wild Beer Festival – Saturday, Strangeways

I don’t know if it’s a festival if you’re the only brewery but I’m not going to argue the point too heavily when the brewery is releasing 12 new beers.

Join us on Saturday, May 4th for our Take a Walk on the Wild Side – Sour & Wild Beer Festival featuring over TWELVE new Strangeways beer releases!

We’ll be featuring some oldies but goodies and new beers that have been consistently HUGE crowd favorites. We’ll be updating you on the list ASAP! But we promise it’ll be any Sour and/or Wild beer fan’s “wildest” dream!

BEER NEWS

Craft Beer & Brewing – Breakout Brewer: Triple Crossing Brewing Company

Possibly the best quote ever from a local brewer.

“Like a lot of guys in the industry right now, I was a longtime homebrewer who probably got told incorrectly that his beers were so good he should sell them to people. It was a terrible way to go about opening a brewery without having any commercial experience before,” says Triple Cossing’s Cofounder and Head Brewer Jeremy Wirtes.

His path to professional brewer aside, Wirtes is a humble yet ambitious brewer who, alongside partners Adam Worcester and Scott Jones, launched the small but potent brewery back in 2014.
