Mardis Gras with the Joyful Feast – Castleburg, Tuesday (today)

Honestly, I’m surprised I didn’t see more Mardi Gras themed events going on this week but there is this one happening tonight at Castleburg.

During the season of Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday, many followers of Jesus prepare for Easter by practicing a form of fasting or some other spiritual discipline. The day before Ash Wednesday is known as Shrove Tuesday or Mardi Gras (“Fat Tuesday” in French) and is traditionally observed by eating rich and fatty foods before 40 days of fasting in Lent.

That sure sounds like a joyful feast to us!

So join us as we let the good times roll at Castleburg Brewery and Taproom on March 5! Drinks are on you, but The Joyful Feast will provide New Orleans style food and live music by Elana Lisa & The Hot Mess. All ages are welcome!

Abuelitas at The Cask – The Cask, Monday

If you haven’t experienced the authentic Mexican food of Abuelita’s yet this is the perfect opportunity. Such tasty food and now with some tasty beers. There is very little information right now but just now that Abuelita’s serves up tasty home-made stews of all sorts. I’ve tried a good number of them and haven’t been disappointed yet. Keep an eye on this one, it’ll be delicious.

Michael Hild and his wife, Laura Dyer Hild, of Church Hill Ventures own Dogtown Dish. They also own Dogtown Brewing and Butterbean among others. Here’s a write-up by Michael of his head brewer at Dogtown Brewing, Ben Spencer.

Where have you brewed beer before and what was your favorite brewery job?

I have brewed formally for The Oasis, Oskar Blues, Rockies Brewing Company (Boulder Beer), Magnolia, and Strike Brewing. Throughout the many years, I have collaborated with beer, wine, mead, and food producers from all over the US. I have brewed beer for many in my past, but none as formative as Magnolia Brewing.
