On Thursday, February 28th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, the public will have a chance to review Mayor Levar Stoney’s first two years during the “Mayorathon 2019: Policy Jam”.

This informal discussion is free and open to the public at the VCU Institute for Contemporary Design. Over a dozen non-profits including RVA Rapid Transit, the Storefront for Community Design, the Richmond Food Justice Alliance, the YWCA of Richmond and the James River Association partnered with Richmond Magazine and The Spark Mill to pull this off.

Then nonprofits have designed the evening’s discussion around pressing topics — from neighborhoods and safety to education, transportation, and the urban environment. To provide a framework for the evening’s conversation, the participating organizations will share their reviews of the mayor’s work to date as well as short lists of suggested steps for the mayor and the City Council to pursue through 2020. Stoney will reflect on his accomplishments as Richmond’s mayor, and the audience at the ICA will weigh in on what his administration’s priorities could be for the remainder of his term.

“The mayor’s agenda in 2016 resonated with city voters,” said Susan Winiecki, editorial director at Richmond magazine. “This is a chance to check in on the progress he’s made on that agenda, what’s been accomplished and to discuss what’s next. The participating organizations are grounded in ongoing community work in Richmond, so we’ll have plenty of content to dig into.”

For more information and to RSVP, visit richmondmag.com/mayorathon2. Seating is limited and first-come, first-served, but an overflow space to view the event will be provided on site. Doors will open at 5:45 PM.
