PHOTOS: Kickers vs. Bethlehem Steel FC in Pre-Season Friendly

On Friday the Richmond Kickers continued their pre-season with a game against Bethlehem Steel FC. The match was played in Springfield Virginia because the Steel were in the area to play against Loudoun County FC. Both Loudoun County and Bethlehem play in the USL Championship which is on league above the Richmond Kickers USL League 1.

As with the previous friendly the Kickers ran out their starting line-up for the first half. For the most part they Kickers dominated play and the majority of the play was in Bethlehem’s end. There was a marked improvement over last week’s play.

This dominance played dividends with a 31’ goal by Daniel Jackson that put Richmond up 1-0. The Kickers added to the total with a 58’ volley by Mutaya Mwape and a 90′ penalty that was buried by Matt Bolduc. Bethlehem had no response and the game ended 3-0 for the Kickers.

On Friday the Kickers also announced the signing of midfielder Maxi Rodriguez.

“Maxi comes to us very highly recommended from San Antonio,” commented David Bulow, Kickers Head Coach. “His personality and ability fits exactly what we’re looking for with the new Richmond Kickers Pro team and I’ve been very encouraged by the first couple of weeks of preseason.  We may have one of the best midfielders in all of USL League One with Maxi.”

The Kickers next official friendly is March 3rd versus Old Dominion University at Ukrop Park.  There is a rumor of a friendly this Wednesday against Loudoun United (also at Ukrop Park) but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
