All of Riverside Drive Now Open

The closure on Riverside Drive due to road failure won’t end for about 90 days.

Update 10/23: The repair work of the sinkhole on Riverside Drive has been completed and the road is now open. Two comments I saw on Nextdoor are worth repeating. 1) The deer in the neighborhood have gotten used to the lack of traffic so be extra vigilant for Bambi out there. 2) A motorcyclist pointed out that there is a lot of gravel on the corners so be careful when taking your two-wheeled vehicle down the road.

Update 8/14: Work has begun.

Original Post 7/12 – From DPU:

The June 22, 2018 rain event washed out the south travel lane of Riverside Drive in the 4700 block.  Due to failure of the roadway, DPU’s Stormwater utility personnel immediately secured the area with jersey barriers to prevent thru traffic from accessing the area. We are estimating that the current closure of the 4700 block of Riverside Drive will be closed for 90 days.  This will allow DPU to put a design in place that will offer a sustainable solution for other rain events like the one received on June 22, so that this does not occur again.
