Film students from 30 invited colleges and universities in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia, will compete for top prizes at the College Film Awards, hosted by Poe Film Festival at the Grace Street Theater, 934 W. Grace Street Richmond, Virginia 23284, on Saturday, October 20, 2018.

Screenings will begin at the Grace Street Theater at 1 pm. Red carpet awards ceremony will take place at the Theater about 6 pm, followed by a wrap party/reception at the Globe Building about 7 pm.

This year will be the first time that High School students will be submitting films for their own event on Saturday, October 20, 2018, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.

The judges will be looking for the application of the Poe Method.

We believe that Edgar Allan Poe’s story structure, based upon his “Principles of Composition,” works perfectly for screenplays. Our judges look for Poe’s touch in script submissions — growing intensity, brevity in words and dialogue, and “unity of effect” upon the audience.
