To my simple mind planting in the fall doesn’t make sense but science tell us it’s a great time to plant.

A few reasons why to plant in the fall:

  • Spring bulbs need to winter over. Work now for blooms in the spring.
  • The wet mild weather means the freshly planted plants will get the moisture they need with less work from you and you don’t have a heat stroke when out weeding or watering.
  • Earlier you plant the earlier the spring blooms which in turn help all the pollinators in the crucial first months of spring when food is scarce.

Don’t take my word for it head over to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden (1800 Lakeside Ave) and ask the many experts. They’ll also help you get the perfect plant for your yard and gardening skill level.
