Scott’s Addition will have yet another entertainment option–one totally new to the area–come Sunday. Tang & Biscuit, a new indoor shuffleboard club, is set to open this Sunday, August 26th.

At 18,000 square feet, the venue is billed as the world’s largest indoor shuffleboard club. It’s been designed specifically for social interaction for all ages.

The venue’s name comes from the equipment used to play the game of shuffleboard. A tang is the cue stick used to push your disc, known as a biscuit, down the court. Tang & Biscuit will have staff on hand to teach guests how to play the game.

“The concept for Tang & Biscuit was born out of the desire to create an inclusive environment where diverse groups from young families to millennials to retirees can spend their free time interacting and socializing,” says Dave Gallagher, the lead partner on the project. “The idea seemingly embodied what Richmond is all about. Our hope is that this will break the ice and get people interacting in a fun way.

Tang & Biscuit features a 50-foot custom designed bar featuring beer, wine, and cocktails. Among those specialty drinks, bartenders will be serving up Tang-inspired beverages. The orange drink once made famous by U.S. astronauts is making a comeback right here in RVA and will be the base used in adult beverages at the bar. Plus, guests can enjoy made-to-order biscuits, tater tots, salads, and wraps which can all be ordered through an app or with attendants throughout the building.

Ten regulation size shuffleboard courts will serve as the centerpiece. Table shuffleboard and additional interactive gaming stations like giant Jenga, ping pong, and board and card games will be available throughout to encourage socialization and “hanging out” with new and old friends alike.

“I have already committed to the Tang & Biscuit team that I’ll be in the top 10 of the International Shuffleboard Association World Championships by 2020, so I have a lot of practice on the courts ahead of me. I’ll gladly take on any challengers!” Gallagher added.

“Even if you’ve never played shuffleboard in your life, we want everyone to feel welcome at Tang & Biscuit,” says Gary Chadwick, Chief Operating Officer. “Come and have a meal, drink a cold beer and maybe discover that you’re actually a shuffleboard master.”

Tang & Biscuit will open its doors to the public for the first time on Sunday from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Weekday operation will begin the next day, Monday, from 4:00 – 11:00 PM. The official grand opening celebration weekend will take place on Friday, August 31st.

Shuffleboard league play will also be offered, and the venue has 2,000 square feet of dedicated event space available for corporate outings and parties.
