Dragons Riding the James this Weekend

The Richmond International Dragon Boat Festival is this Saturday at Rocketts Landing.

Twenty rowers riding a dragon boat as a drummer lays down a rhythmic beat is only part of what you can expect to see at the Richmond International Dragon Races.

This Saturday, August 11th the first race hit the water at 8:30 AM Rocketts Landing.  You can expect to see these 40-foot canoes race 500 meters. The teams are made of businesses, social groups, and friends that want to get out there and have fun.

Besides the racing there will be traditional Chinese dancers, performers, food vendors and beer.
