Every year the Better Housing Coalition teams up with Hardywood to host a fun creative fundraiser, the Gingerbread House Challenge. Local businesses, nonprofits, and student groups form teams and display their holiday spirit and creativity by constructing a gingerbread house that is displayed at Hardywood the same day as the release of the best-selling Hardywood Gingerbread Stout. 100% of proceeds from the event will support BHC’s mission of changing lives and transforming communities through high-quality affordable housing.

Each year the houses are centered around a theme. This year the event is going holiday with “Holiday Movies”.

The event is not until November but the recruiting for both sponsors and builders is starting now. If you’ve got the idea for the perfect Die Hard gingerbread house download the entry form here. Up for grabs is the $500 People’s Choice Winner, and a celebrity judging panel will crown the $1,000 Grand Prize Winner. If you need motivation or want to check out your possible competition check out photos from last year’s event.

If you like the artistic skills to build the epic gingerbread house but wouldn’t mind getting your name in front of over 2,000 locals while helping an excellent cause you can read more about it here.
