Bits & Brews with DJ 8-Bit Mullet – Castleburg, Thursday

The number of hours I’ve personally lost drinking beer and playing video games is innumerable. Now is the time for myself and others of the same ilk to shine. It’s a MarioKart 64 tournament at a brewery. Also, screw you Rainbow Road course, I hate you.

Castleburg is thrilled to welcome DJ 8-Bit Mullet to our regular schedule of events in our taproom.

Starting August 2, 2018 from 5-7 PM, and every subsequent first Thursday of each month, DJ 8-Bit Mullet will be in our taproom entertaining you with his retro video game remixes, while you play games or participate in a video game tournament. Spectators are welcome!

Our video game tournament for August 2nd is MarioKart 64!

Here’s how it works:
~$5 to enter the tournament. Grand Prize wins the pot!
~2nd Place – Gift certificate to Castleburg
~3rd Place – A fun prize from a local business

Happy Hour is NORMALLY from 4-6, but on 8/2 we are having a fundraiser. Therefore, the discount you would normally receive will now be donated to a great cause. We do this from time-to-time, but next month’s event will have true happy hour discounts on pints and growler fills.

This event is for ages 21 and up

804 Day – Buskey Cider, Saturday

This Saturday is 8/4 and clever folks throughout the city have turned it into 804 Day which as you know matches our area code. To celebrate this convergence of time and space Buskey is throwing a bit of a party. If cider isn’t your thing don’t worry there will be 11 local breweries represented as well. Hit the link above for the full list of beer and vendors.

Celebrate RVA on #804Day! On Saturday, August 4th, aka 8/04 Day, we’ll be throwing our 3rd Annual event, celebrating all that is Richmond over pints of cider, cans of beer, and incredible makers that are local to RVA!

We’ll also be releasing our brand new Peach Tea Cider, crafted with CaryTown Teas Peach Blossom White blend, exactly what you’re looking for to survive the rest of this hot summer weather.

BrewHaHa Craft Beer Festival – Virginia Museum of History & Culture, Saturday

To kick off Virginia Craft Beer Month, the Virginia Museum of History & Culture will host its second annual “BrewHaHa Craft Beer Festival” on Saturday, August 4th, the museum announced this week.

Mean Bird Chicken & Waffles Beer Brunch – Final Gravity, Sunday

After a long weekend of drinking beer the best way to cap off the weekend is with fried chicken, waffles and of course more beer.

Mean Bird comes to Lakeside for a special Chicken & Waffles Beer Brunch! They’ll be conveniently set-up in our (Town Center) parking lot with craft fried chicken AND fried veggie bird, waffles, biscuits, and sides. Bring it on in and pair that awesomeness with cold, craft beer. Celebrate the first Sunday of Virginia Craft Beer Month with Final Gravity and Mean Bird!

IPA X Release – Ardent, Thursday

We’re thrilled to announce our second beer to be released in cans: IPA X!
❌
IPA X is double dry hopped with Citra and Mosaic hops, an exciting combination that provides big citrus and tropical fruit notes in both aroma and flavor. This juicy beer pours a cloudy, deep golden color, with super low bitterness and a silky soft mouthfeel.
❌
7.1% ABV • 10 IBU
❌
4-packs of 16 oz. cans will be available in the brewery beginning Thursday, August 2, and will hit shelves around RVA shortly thereafter.

Gose Fest – Center of the Universe, Saturday

There’s a whole lot goseing on up in Ashland this Saturday. If that’s your style it’s worth traveling the extra mile.

Please join us for the release of There Gose Summer, a traditional German-style sour brewed with heaps of tangerine and a dash of salt. This slightly tart, refreshing brew will make the agony of a diminishing Summer a little less dreadful and much more FLAVORFUL! 🍻🍊☀️

And to celebrate The Gose Summer’s release, we made 7 variants! Come to the brewery on August 4th from 12-10 pm to try a flight of all 8 variations of this wonderfully tart homage to summer.

The Variations:
1.) Ribena (Black Currant)
2.) Lavender-Lemon
3.) Maple-Coffee
4.) Roasted Tomato
5.) Pineapple-Vanilla
6.) Lavender-Rose
7.) Green Chili Pepper

Charlotte Shandy Release – Isley, Saturday

Summer heat sometimes can only be beaten with a summer beer and Shandy just the gal to do it.

“Charlotte Shandy”
Shandy Style Ale
3.5%ABV
15 IBU

In collaboration with the Virginia Historical Society, we present “Charlotte Shandy”. We’ve taken inspiration from a handwritten recipe out of Charlotte County, Virginia, 1840. This “Lemon Beer”, is light, slightly sweet, crisp, and blended well on the finish. Dryhopped for additional aromatics, and given a slightly higher carbonation level, this shandy is perfectly crushable for the end of summer.

This delicious summer brew will be on tap at the brewery & the 2018 BrewHaHa Craft Beer Fest
