Richmond Young Writers Benefit at Mean Bird

Richmond Young Writers Benefit at Mean Bird

Two things are consistently awesome, fried chicken and young people writing. On Tuesday eat one to benefit the other.

Richmond Young Writers works with local youth to improve and enjoy writing of all sorts. Mean Bird fills your belly with delicious food. The improving of the mind and the improving of the belly meet in this perfect fundraiser. Buy a bit of delicious chicken and help a local kid writer get even better.

From the Facebook Event:

Mean Bird is hosting a Benefit Night for Richmond Young Writers! Come out from 4-9 pm on Tuesday July 17, and mention RYW at the register to donate 10% of your Mean Bird sale to the organization! (Benefit applies to phone-in and walk-in carry out orders).

I’ve known co-founder Bird Cox for years, and she is one badass boss babe I can get behind! I can’t wait to send our two kiddos to RYW to unleash their inner-storytelling-amazingly-strange genius!

From their website:
“Richmond Young Writers is a creative writing incubator for ages 9-17. We write, we read, we laugh, we cry, we get messy, we polish things up, we bond. We make each other better.

RYW offers once-a-week fall and winter/spring after-school workshops in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, journalism, comics, and other topics.

In the summer, we offer 18 different week-long creative writing camps, complete with amazing guest author appearances, snacks, deep thoughts, wordy goodness and a new crew of crazy writer friends.”

Check out their website for more information and to sign up for classes! There’s options for us grown ups too!

Remember we’re all take out, so plan on taking your dinner back home or on a picnic. Check out our menu at
