RVA Beer Explorer
RVA Beer Explorer Weekly Picks
Today’s RVA Beer Explorer is a light beer. A little light on content but still has that beer taste.
GO DO THIS
Glutton Run – because you splurged over Memorial Day Weekend – Twisted Craft Ales, Tuesday (tonight)
Did you overindulge this Memorial Weekend? If so pay the piper and then go to Twisted Craft Ales and go straight back to owing the piper. That piper is a pain in the keister.
Did you eat too much over Memorial Day weekend? Or do you plan to? Join us for Glutton Run at Twisted Ales. It’s a great little two-miler or four-miler (if you run it twice), at your own pace or in groups. It starts at Twisted Ales, moves over the 9th Street bridge, then finishes with a picturesque run back over the James across the T. Potterfield Bridge, up a final stair challenge (or you can walk the alternate inclined path), back to Twisted Ales.
Here is a link to navigate to the T.Pott Bridge once you cross the 9th street bridge:https://goo.gl/maps/g9nurvKu8Qm
Enjoy $1 off full pours and socializing with your fellow gluttons at the end of your run.
RVA YArt Sale! – Hardywood Ownby Lane, Sunday
Established and not so established artist selling their wares. Have a beer and bring home art. There’s always room for more beer and more art, it’s science.

Birdhouse Market Benefit Dinner – ZZQ, Sunday
I declare that ZZQ has the best barbecue in Richmond. I will broach no disagreement. If Ardent the next-door brewery is combining with ZZQ for a dinner I’m all ears. Not many details at this point but keep an eye on their Facebook event.
This annual fundraising dinner centers around a collaborative, family-style menu sourced from the Birdhouse Farmers Market’s farmers and specialty food producers and prepared by chefs Caleb Shriver, Paul Winston, (Dutch & Company) Ben Burakoff, (Rapp Session) Evrim Dogu, Evin Dogu & Ben Lee, (Sub Rosa Bakery) with all proceeds supporting this urban, mid-week farmers market.
Beginning with snacks and a welcome cocktail, the meal will include paired beverages from local breweries and wine merchants. Come out, have a delicious meal, and support a great cause!
Menu details to come!

BEER NEWS
Richmond’s Beer Pioneers To Relaunch: Peter Stumpf Brewing And Rosenegk Brewing – Dogtown Dish
The history bit of this story is a very interesting tale of two rivals battling it out over beer. The news about these breweries relaunching is very vague. There is no talk of who the brewers will be, how many gallons, etc. The breweries respective Facebook pages are very similar, showing off historical images. Dogtown Dish is owned and operated by real estate developer Michael Hild and these breweries are going into property owned by Michael Hild. Is this a real attempt at bringing historic beers to market or another “Richmond” brand in a growing portfolio?
In honor of two of Richmond’s legendary brewing pioneers, Peter Stumpf Brewing Company and Rosenegk Brewing Company are planning a relaunch. The two breweries will set up at the vintage themed Siegel’s food and beverage development in Swansboro just west of Manchester. The hope is for the Siegels development to be a food & beverage hall where iconic Richmond brands that were lost to history are made once again. Peter Stumpf and Rosenegk Brewing plan to join previously announced Richmond brands such as Climax Beverage, Pin Money Pickles, Valentine’s Meat-Juice, and Aragon Coffee at Siegel’s.
Definitely hit the link to read about the history just don’t expect details on what this relaunch really means for beer drinkers.

Homefront IPA Beer Release – Center of the Universe, Saturday
An IPA that benefits the Soliders’ Angels is a good IPA indeed.

Welcome back the return of Homefront IPA! This traditional American IPA is brewed with Cascade and Chinook hops. We tossed maple bats into the tank to pick up that delicious wood flavor and as with previous generations, heaps of fresh orange zest will be added after fermentation. This will create a bright and crisp citrus flavor. 100% of all proceeds from the sale of Homefront IPA will be donated to the Soldiers’ Angels (Official) Foundation.
