Vagabond Adventure Series: Knot Tying for Outdoor Adventures – Väsen Brewing Company, Tuesday
You do KNOT what to miss this event unless you’re tied up elsewhere.

Imagine you’re out climbing with your friends and they ask you to tie a figure eight knot. Or you’re out on a sailboat and the captain asks if you’ve tied an alpine butterfly loop. You know how to tie your shoes, but that’s about it…
What do you do?
In partnership with UOU Outdoors, Väsen is proud to announce the second of many Vagabond Adventure Series events. This crash course on knot tying will teach you the basic knots for climbing, hiking, and boating. It’ll help you be more prepared, and therefore a safer outdoorsman/woman.
Led by UOU Outdoors guides ‘Stoney’, Brian, and Will, we’ll start in our taproom with an overview of various knots, then we’ll head to the patio where you’ll be given rope and asked to tie off a variety of knots.
While this isn’t a team-based program, you’re welcome to come in small groups of 2-4 people. To register, please grab a free ticket on this Facebook event.
Vegan Pop Up Shop – Hardywood Ownby Lane, Wednesday
Vegans often get the short end of the stick when it comes to dining and shopping options. Hardywood is hoping to give vegans the whole stick. Food and shopping options galore.

May the 4th Be With You Movie Night – Intermission Brewing, Friday
A long, long time ago in a galaxy far away there was a brewery that showed movies about a young brash pilot, a rouge, a walking carpet and of course a princess.

STAR WARS DAY May the Fourth Be With You – Center of the Universe, Friday
If you’ve got “universe” in your name you damn well better have some sort celebration happening May 4th. Center of the Universe doesn’t disappoint.

Not long from now…. At a brewery not far, far away…. Center of the Universe will be celebrating National Star Wars Day with special limited releases of THE DARK SIDE BLACK IPA, THE RESISTANCE WHITE STOUT, a Cantina themed taproom, and photo ops all around! The movies will be on the big screen and coming in costume is HIGHLY encouraged.
Bring your lightsabers and we’ll pour you up a cold one to cheers to the Resistance. Or the Dark Side if you’re so inclined… 🍻
MAY the FOURTH be with you!
Oysters & Bluegrass Big Brew Day – Final Gravity, Saturday
I’ll let you in on a dirty little secret. I don’t like oysters. At times I wish I did so I could enjoy events like this to their fullest. Instead, I’ll just have to go and watch others slurp down sea snot.

Join us for Big Brew Day with James River HomeBrewers, Rappahannock River Oysters, LLC, and live music from Old Dogs New Tricks Bluegrass Band! Everything will be set up right behind Final Gravity Brewing Co. so come out, enjoy some oysters, beer & music and watch local homebrewers do their thing. ANY homebrewer can join in and brew a batch amongst friends and peers (set-up starts at 9a). Folks who choose to brew will enjoy discounts and be entered into our raffle. All others can show at at noon to enjoy the day.
*E-mail [email protected] if you’d like to participate as a brewer*
Barkitecture + Kitty Couture 2018 – Ardent, Saturday
It’s a scientific fact that beer tastes better with a dog or cat within petting range. If your cat or dog are slumming it house-wise get to Ardent this weekend and get inspired to build them the home their furry butts deserve.

Come by to see custom built dog houses and kitty condos designed by local creatives, designers and architects and vote for your favorite.
There will also be food trucks, face-painting, a pet photo booth, games and raffles! Fun for the whole family, including the fur-babies.
A percentage of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Richmond Animal League.
General entry tickets are free!
Or the VIP experience is available for $20 – get two drink tickets, insider information and a pet themed swag bag!
BEER NEWS
New law lets you bring dogs into Richmond breweries – Richmond BizSense.com
Your fluffy friend is no longer restricted to just the outside of your favorite brewery anymore.
While many booze-making venues already allow dogs on their outdoor gathering areas, the new law – which goes into effect July 1 – will change the current statute that only allows guide or guard animals indoors at such facilities, provided their presence is “unlikely to result in contamination.”
The bill passed through the General Assembly earlier this year and was patroned by Del. John J. Bell (D-Chantilly).
It does not require Virginia’s booze makers to allow dogs inside tasting rooms, but instead gives them the option to. The law also does not allow dogs to be in “any area used for the production of food products.”

HOPS IPA Release – Three Notch’d Collab House
Every Thursday Three Notch’d release a collab and often it’s teamed up with a local event or charity. This week’s beer help get folks into a home of their own.
“project: HOPS”
IPA
ABV: 5.7%
IBU: 15
Collaboration w/ project:HOMESFor this collaboration, we worked with project: HOMES, a non-profit in Richmond that strives to improve the housing and living conditions of Central Virginians through the construction of high quality affordable housing, large-scale home repairs, resulting in greater accessibility and energy efficiency for existing homes. Our hazy, sessionable IPA carries a complex hop profile from Hallertau Blanc hops which lend notes of citrus, pine and grape. A light malt body contributes a smooth body, keeping the bitterness in check while still remaining refreshing.
Skylab Double IPA Release – Final Gravity, Friday
The latest IPA to fall out of Lakeside is Skylab Double. Watch your head this one might hurt.

Skylab Double IPA is entering the Final Gravity atmosphere this Friday. At 8%, it brings a bounty of Galaxy hops with flavors of citrus, passion fruit, peach, grapefruit, and guava that will send you into orbit. Limited Crowlers available.
And My Axe! IPA – Castleburg, Friday
This beer is set to go medieval on your axe.

You don’t need a fellowship of the ring to enjoy this juicy IPA.
Our newest hoppy concoction features a heavy dose of Idaho 7 with some Azacca and El Dorado as backup. A light malt bill lets these hops shine through with tropical and light piney flavors and aromas. ABV 5.6%, IBU 60
It’s an ale that even a dwarf would love.
La Calavera Catrina: Bottle Release – Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery, Saturday
Head out into the country and enjoy a tripel.
The other half of Nasty Woman comes opens May with a Bang. Our favorite Three Chopt Tripel is aged in Tequila barrels for months and comes out firing with flavor and pizazz.
