BEER NEWS
Buy a Brewery
It’s not Richmond but in relatively nearby Virginia Beach. Green Flash is focusing on the West Coast so is auctioning it’s Virginia Beach facility and we mean everything. This also means no distribution of Green Flash on the East Coast, so if you like their beer stock up now.

In other words, putting out a sign that says “BEER!” isn’t good enough any longer. There are too many medium-to-large breweries, with improving distribution networks and agreements. AB-InBev doesn’t play nice. But in a world where Ornery and Green Flash bite the dust, that’s a signal that we have just enough GOOD breweries, with just enough ACCESS to their beers, that we’ve hit the saturation point for the Virginia craft beer market.

Company Man Release – Ardent, Thursday
He looks so sad standing in the rain. I bet a beer would cheer him up.
Our favorite Company Man is punching in again! Join us for the Company Man release this Thursday, March 29.
Company Man is a clear, golden straw pilsner with a creamy, long-lasting head that leaves rich lacing. The classic lager aroma is clean and bready, with a noble hop note and light grassiness. Medium body and high carbonation accentuate the soft bitterness, along with mild, balanced flavors of fruity, malty sweetness. Company Man is a crisp, refreshing German-style pils that finishes dry and clean.

Phantom, Myrtle and The Mandarin Saison Release w/ Stone! – Three Notch’d Collab House, Thursday
A great sounding beer for a great cause. Drink up.
A Very Special Collaboration Brew w/ Stone Brewing Company
“Phantom, Myrtle and the Mandarin”
Hoppy Saison w/ Guava & Tangerine
ABV: 6.0%
IBU: 30
Collaboration w/ Stone Brewing Company RichmondOnce a year, on International Women’s Day, female brewers throughout the world collaborate on a special beer in which a portion of proceeds benefit the Pink Boots Society, a global nonprofit organization that supports women in the beer industry. This year, we got the opportunity to host the ladies at Stone Brewing in Richmond for their brew! Each beer made this year utilizes a special “Pink Boots Blend” of hops created by the PBS and includes Palisade, Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra and Loral. Our hoppy saison enhances the bold tropical, citrus fruit hop flavors by adding Guava and Tangerine fruit and Belgian yeast that lends light spicy, clove notes.
*As part of the collaboration, Three Notch’d will be donating $1 to the Pink Boots Society for each pint sold!
Join us for PINT SPECIALS starting at 4 PM when we tap the first keg! Pint specials run till 7 PM. Stick around for trivia which starts at 7pm.
Vapour Trails Double IPA Release – Final Gravity, Friday
Another IPA from Final Gravity. I feel like I’ve said that before, oh yeah I have and it’s a good thing to repeat.
Another smooth and hazy Double IPA returns to the taps at Final Gravity this week. Vapour Trails consists of Falconer’s Flight and Citra hops which bring the essence of grapefruit, floral, and tropical tones. It’ll soon fade away like voices in a hurricane so act quickly.
BEEr Orange Blossom Honey Ale Release – Center of the Universe, Saturday
I see what you did there with the clever use of Bee and the letter R.
BEEr Orange Blossom Honey Ale is a graduate of Origin Beer Lab and developed by Ashley Ray. The beer is brewed with gallons of orange blossom honey which is then complimented by a generous portion of honey malt and 2-row barley. The result is a refreshing, brite, and delicious brew. This new taproom favorite clocks in at 7.2% ABV.
Bourbon Cru & Foolery Release – Hardywood, Saturday
Yes, two great beers released on one day.
BOURBON BARREL CRU: 12% ABV
Hardywood Bourbon Barrel Cru is brewed in the fashion of the abbey quadrupel, the grand cru of many of Belgium’s revered monastic breweries. Bourbon Cru displays a sunset orange hue with a substantial head and brilliant clarity after months of barrel aging. The maturity and melding of flavors brought on by the freshly drained bourbon barrels lends an extraordinary sense of harmony to Bourbon Barrel Cru. Almond toffee and oaky vanilla aromatics give way to dark cherries, raisins and mature whiskey. A bit of plum flavor is greeted by caramel overtones and an assertive yet incredibly rounded body and a lingering, bourbon-laced finish.FOOLERY: 13% ABV
Hardywood Foolery is a huge imperial milk stout aged in bourbon barrels for 10 months. Massive chocolate, vanilla and caramel flavors precede aromatic hints of dark cherry, tobacco, leather and oak. Foolery is boisterous, thick and rich with a pleasant, warming finish.
