Head underground to check out Butchertown Burlesque

Seven shows are planned throughout the year so plenty of opportunity to see what’s happening down in the basement.

Butchertown Burlesque take their name from an old Richmond gang of kids called the Butchertown Cats. The youth gangs were notorious for throwing rocks at both their rivals and innocents. You won’t have to worry about rocks being flung your way with Butchertown Burlesque but you might catch a stocking or long glove right in the kisser. I much better deal in my opinion.

Theatre Lab located in the basement of300 East Broad Street, is opening its doors for several nights of classic burlesque and swinging music.

Boom Boom Basics presents a vintage classic burlesque, nightlife experience to whisk show-goers away to a night of decadent celebration! Embark on journey through the retro decades with LIVE jazz, blues and swing from Virginia-grown, and regional musical artists, playing your tunes from the 1920s – 1950s, while stripteasing sirens tease and delight in an immersive, speakeasy setting.

Featuring musical guest Laissez Foure!

With burlesque from:
Violet Devereaux
Empress D’Naste
and Deanna Danger!
