Winter Solstice is the longest night/shortest day of the year and it lands this Thursday. The solstice has been celebrated for thousands of years. Hundreds will gather at Stonehenge to see the sunrise but you don’t have to go to England to celebrate what some term midwinter.

Richmond has its own solstice celebration on Belle Isle every year. There will be a legal bonfire, cookies, and caroling.
