DO THIS

Pre-Turkey Run – Final Gravity, Wednesday

Make room for all the turkey and stuffing by running on Wednesday.

Get one last run in before you stuff your face on Thanksgiving. Take those work-out clothes with you to work and then duck out early for a 5:30p 3-miler around Lakeside. Visit the Final Gravity Running Club page for course details on Wednesday. When you return, you’ll get a snack, a bottle of water, a discount off your first beer, and will be entered into the FG raffle. Runs return to Thursdays at 6p next week. Come out and make new friends, be thankful for good beer, and remember “thighs before pies”.

**headlamps and reflective clothing are strongly encouraged**

Got family in town? Need a good reason to go out? We’ve got 3 for ya! IBU: 25

Feeding Frenzy is a DIPA brewed in collaboration with RVA Magazine, releasing just in time for Thanksgiving! This IPA has a big, juicy hop character from a blend of Mosaic and Galaxy hops that add tropical flavors of mango and passionfruit, accompanied by a low bitterness

DARK DAZE – Veil Brewing, Friday

Friday November 24th 2017 aka Black Friday, we will be hosting our first annual Dark Daze!

Dark Daze is celebration of stouts and other dark, complex, malt forward beers.

We will have over 10 different dark beers on draft from us in addition to our other standard offerings. There will be no guest beers pouring.

**WE WILL BE OPENING EARLY FOR THIS EVENT/DAY. WE WILL BE OPEN FROM 12-10PM THIS DAY.**

***THIS IS NOT A TICKETED EVENT FOR ENTRY. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED LIKE OUR CAN RELEASES.***

At Veil’s Facebook event they list all the beers that will be available. Needless to say if you like dark beers you should be Scott’s Addition on Friday. It sure as heck beats being at the mall.

LCCB Goodwater Opening – Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery Shockoe Edition, Friday

No details on what’s going down at the Goochland County Brewery’s foray into the city but we know they’ll officially be open on Black Friday, November 24th, from 12-9 PM and they’re located at 1717 East Franklin Street.

DRINK THIS

National Gingerbread Day – Hardywood, Today/Tuesday

In the continuing tradition of made-up “days” we present National Gingerbread Day. The only reason it’s getting a plug here is that Hardywood will be offering up two one-of-a-kind casks of Gingerbread Stout:

  • GBS w/ Coconut & Cocoa Nibs
  • GBS w/ coffee, cinnamon, vanilla & lactose (think “Latte GBS”!

Gingerbread Gourd of Thunder Imperial Pumpkin Porter Release – Strangeways, Wednesday

Everywhere you look you see nothing but Gingerbread beers. I blame Hardywood. Strangeways, however, gets points for the best Gingerbread beer related image so far.

Gingerbread Oak Barrel Aged Gourd of Thunder Imperial Pumpkin Porter : Available in 750ml bottles and draft

9.2 ABV | 18 IBU
Gourd of Thunder is a dark and gnarly Imperial Pumpkin Porter brewed with freshly picked local pumpkins that were ripened on the vine while continuously listening to heavy metal. The malty pumpkin backbone fuses robustly with a milky sugar creaminess. Bourbon vanilla beans lay down a rock-steady foundation that drives the cinnamon, ginger and clove spices through your skull. This brew does not merely mimic the flavor of a mortal pumpkin pie. Gourd of Thunder will cataclysmically blow your mind with its face-melting, high-voltage attitude. No live gingerbread men were harmed in the making of this beer.

Up All Night Coffee Porter Release – Isley, Wednesday

We’re bringing back our popular
Up All Night Coffee Porter, just in time for the holidays!

It will be on tap and available for crowler and growler fills to help ya stay UP ALL NIGHT and keep you motivated through the late-night holiday shopping!

This is a holiday release and will be on tap and available for growlers/crowlers for a limited time!

Hardywood Apple Brandy GBS Release – Hardywood, Saturday

You’ll only be able to get this beer at the brewery so if you’re trying to catch all the Gingerbread Beers you’ll be heading over that way this weekend.

In this limited edition variant, our Gingerbread Stout blends in perfect harmony with the cinnamon kissed oak staves of the apple brandy barrels in which it was matured. This barrel aged imperial milk stout crescendos with notes of honey, chocolate and fragrant cinnamon. Enjoy! 10.4% ABV

Shut Up Release – Center of the Universe, Friday

The world we live in is dominated by the IPA and currently, we’re neck deep in Gingerbread so it’s nice to see a Doppelbock out in the wild.

This year, Shut Up is a 10.2% Doppelbock aged in Napa Red Wine Barrels and Woodford Reserve Bourbon Barrels. After a long hibernation, the barrels are blended together to create a unique, complex, and robust libation suitable for an escape.

A Doppelbock is a strong German Dark Lager that is full of dark chocolate flavors with only a slight roasty character. After aging, the beer picks up on the sweet red grapes, vanilla, and bourbon and creates a wonderfully decadent flavor explosion.

Bang Up To The Elephant (re-release) – Twisted Craft Ales, Friday

Join us for a Black Friday break and the re-release of Bang Up To The Elephant – a DIPA with grapefruit notes and 8.5% ABV.

Return of One Drop Double IPA – Final Gravity, Friday

Since you’re going to be in anyways for the 20% off Original Gravity Black Friday Sale!, we thought we’d bring back one of your favorites. Revisit the refreshing citrus flavors of Lemondrop, Mosaic, and Citra hops and take a few Crowlers to go. Feel it in the One Drop.

RVA Beer Explorer’s Last Call

The RVA Beer Explorer is sailing off into the sunset but hopefully, you’ll like its fuzzy replacement.

The RVA Beer Explorer is throwing in his beer-soaked towel. The number of breweries and the beer scene of Richmond is awesome. Over the years for health reasons (nothing dramatic just self-realization about my intake) I’ve become less and less part of that awesome beer scene. As a result, I don’t have the passion needed to keep writing about beer every week so it’s time to say goodbye. RVAHub will continue to cover the big beer events and they’ll show up in their respective neighborhood areas or on the main site. We wouldn’t want you to miss out on some of the more unique events that pop-up.

Later today I’ll launch my new weekly post Critters of the Week. It will feature a picture and information about a wild animal spotted in the RVA area and an animal up for adoption by SPCA or RACC.

To my loyal readers out there I thank you for spending time with me each week and putting up with my many, many typos.

In keeping with Jonny’s boundless energy for connection and mobilization of the creative spirit, the festival features local musicians, interactive art booths, play areas and kids’ projects, an amazing raffle, and the Bizarre Market, of course. Jonny was a champion of the market and organized market events for several years. Free to attend!
