Known as a gifted and witty writer in the 80s and 90s, J. Alan Cumbey’s private passion was his visual art, which he only shared with a handful of close friends.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of his passing, curator Lora Beldon has selected works that represent this large collection of outsider art. They will be shown publicly for the first time at Iridian Gallery, November 17, 2017 – Jan. 27, 2018.

To honor his legacy, Alan’s family is releasing many of the works to be sold, with all proceeds benefitting the gallery and Diversity Richmond. Alan would be really pleased.

Opening reception and sale is November 17, 7 – 9 PM. Free and open to the public.

The show opens tonight at 7 PM at the Iridian Gallery at Diversity Richmond, 1407 Sherwood Ave, Richmond, Virginia 23220.
