Dot’s Back Inn owner Jimmy Tsamouras and his wife Daniella expanded their MacArthur Avenue restaurant empire with a Meditteranean themed restaurant called Demi’s Mediterranean Kitchen.
In July Demi’s made Richmond Magazine’s list of Best New Restaurants and described it as:
Even if you’re not in the mood for a reasonably priced lamb kebab or mussels over pasta with just the right amount of spicy harissa, Demi’s makes for the perfect place to unwind after work with a few glasses of house-made sangria.
The Style Weekly Review isn’t quite as glowing but still found plenty to like.
The dips turn out to be my favorite options (2 for $6, 3 for $8, 4 for $10). Melitzanosalata, a Greek cousin of baba ghanouj, features chunky roasted eggplant instead of the traditional puree, providing a nice texture. The garlicky artichoke tapenade is an equal mix of chopped olives and artichoke hearts, studded with roasted red peppers, all coated in an excellent, slightly fruity olive oil.
