Local firefighters lift fire engine, tots rejoice

Nobody was injured but there might have been a few splinters.

On Monday of this week, the popular Westover Hills Tot Lot needed some help. The wooden fire truck in the lot is much-loved and in need of repair. Tot Lot leaders asked for a few volunteers to come by and help move the truck onto a trailer. The hope was two to three strong backs.

Instead of two or three volunteers, they got a whole fire truck of volunteers. Local Station 20 showed up in force and made quick work of getting the wooden fire truck on the trailer and off for repairs.

Considering the short notice we gave, we hoped that maybe 2 or 3 people would be able to help. Imagine our surprise when the Richmond Fire Department showed up! We are so incredibly grateful for the support from these men and woman and we are blessed to be a part of this amazing community! Thank you to the Richmond Fire Department, WHUMC members and everyone else who helped make this happen!

Keep an eye on Westover Hills Tot Lot on Facebook for your own volunteer opportunities to help out one of the gems of Westover Hills.
