Kids in foster care sometimes need a little help getting around town. You could be that help.

Kids in foster care face many challenges. One challenge that many people don’t know about is transportation. Securing transportation to required appointments can make a big difference in a child’s life.

UMFS is a nonprofit social service organization that does whatever it takes to empower high-risk children, their families and communities. The organization is currently seeking volunteers to serve as transport mentors in the Richmond area. Click here to sign up and learn more.

Rose Teague is one such volunteer. Rose has really enjoyed being a volunteer transport mentor at UMFS. It’s a great opportunity to connect with kids without a huge commitment. Rose often drives the same children, and she enjoys getting to know them. After learning about one child’s favorite singers, Rose created a custom playlist for their next journey together. “She was so excited,” shared Rose.
