Celebrate Brookland Park this Saturday at the 4th annual Brookland Park Community Celebration

This Saturday, July 22nd from 3-7 PM, the Brookland Park Area Association (BPAA) is hosting the 4th annual Brookland Park Community Celebration. Festivities go down on Brookland Park Boulevard between Fendall and North Avenue. The party will feature, vendors, music and more.

Under the “more” category, word from recently opened Savage Apparel Co. is the mural by Northern Neck-based artist Tommy Fox  should be finished.

Savage Apparel Co., which officially opened up shop on Brookland Park Blvd. earlier this month, has partnered with local and regional artists to beautify its building. With hand-painted signage and a large mural at the intersection of Hanes Avenue and Brookland Park Blvd., the company aims to bring attention to its new space while paying homage to the vibrant and historic surrounding neighborhood.

Fellow BPB resident Charles Jennings Signs is currently working with Presto Signs to hand-paint Savage’s classic VII logo on the front and left side of the building. In addition, Northern Neck-based artist Tommy Fox is creating a mural inspired by the boulevard, a major Northside artery that has drawn the attention of business owners and developers in recent months. Fox will be painting all week in preparation for the Brookland Park Community Festival on July 22.
