The Van Cleve Seafood Co. started out as a family run restaurant. Time in the restaurant kitchen produced their signature item the Chesapeake Blue Crab Pie. The pie has crab meat, unique blend of cheeses and over 20 herbs wrapped in pastry crust. This isn’t a quick bite before going jogging type meal. This is the eat on the porch with iced tea and watch the sunset kind of meal.

In the August Issue of Oprah’s “O” the Chesapeake Blue Crab Pie was selected as one of Oprah’s Favorite things. The clipping above is from the issue that’s on news stands now.

The good news for locals is that you won’t have to order online instead you can head to the South of the James Farmer’s Market (8AM – Noon) this Saturday. Double good news is that since the Van Cleve’s don’t have to pack it up in a cooler with dry ice and then ship it overnight shipping you save on all that costs.  Buying it at the Farmer’s Market ends up being $1 cheaper than what the Oprah discount ends up being. We’re talking bargain Crab Pie y’all.
