The Southampton Citizen’s Association posted on Facebook about a guided tour of the fireflies in the Wetlands along the James River. This Saturday folks will gather at the chained gate to the Wetlands at end of Landria Drive a few minutes before 9 PM. Then Ralph White will lead a tour into the park. In case you don’t know or don’t remember, Ralph worked in the James River Park for 32 years before retiring in 2012.

This is a unique outing in the park where you will have the chance to see the numerous species of fireflies that each have their own unique colors and flight patterns.

If possible Ralph recommends bringing a flashlight with red cellophane over the top- and definitely wearing some mosquito repellent.
(Ralph will also be doing Firefly Forays on Friday the 30th and Sat. July 1st. Same time and place)
* A 5.00 contribution to the SCA is encouraged at each of these events.
