RVA Beer Explorer
RVA Beer Explorer Weekly Picks
The long weekend just wrapped up but that doesn’t mean we can’t think about coming week in beer.
LET’S DO THIS
First Friday Summer Movies – The Veil Brewing Co
If the quote, ““Nobody puts Baby in a corner” means something to you, you should probably head to Veil Brewing on Friday for their screening of Dirty Dancing. With enough beers Patrick Swayse can become a passable actor or maybe you just won’t care. The movie starts at 8:45 and there will be popcorn by River City Kettle Corn. For the record River City Kettle Corn is some of the best kettle corn our family has ever had and we consider ourselves kettle corn connoisseurs or if you prefer kettle cornnoisseurs.
The Sisterhood of Shred Movie Premier – Triple Crossing – Thursday
Apparently I’m all about movies this week because pick number two is the debut of a movie featuring women hitting the trails with their mountain bikes and highlighting the community they’ve created.
Movie Premier “Sisterhood of Shred”
Social: 6pm, Movie: 6:30pm (runtime 1hr40min)
LIV RVA is proud to present a screening of “Sisterhood of Shred” …. a film by fellow Liv Ambassador Meg Valliant about the ever-growing community of female riders! Join us at Triple Crossing Brewing for an evening of bikes, beer, food, giveaways, and celebrating women in mountain biking! All proceeds benefit our trails! Many thanks to our friends at 3X for hosting us for this event! All are welcome so bring your family, significant others, friends, and fellow shredders!
This fundraiser is sponsored by Liv Cycling USA, Coqui cyclery, and Triple Crossing Brewing and will directly benefit our local mountian bike organization RVA MORE who helps to advocate, maintain, and assist us in all things TRAIL!
This full-length documentary is focused on the community & key players of the Sisterhood of Shred: coaches, mothers, supporters, and the up-and-coming riders. We follow the women through events and daily lives to examine what motivates them but more importantly, what draws them to this particular community.

BEER NEWS
Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery planning a $14 million expansion in Goochland and Lynchburg – RTD 5/26/17
Big news out of Goochland as the brewery that makes people hit the road is planning a major expansion.
The brewery plans to add 50,000 square feet of production space and a new tap room to its existing 4,000-square-foot brewery on Knolls Point Drive in Goochland. The brewery was built in the style of a horse stable overlooking a 290-acre farm near Little Lickinghole Creek.
The expansion will enable the brewery — known for its specialty ales incorporating farm products such as berries — to expand production and make what Pumphrey described as a distinctive new lager style of beer.
Also included in the plans is a new production brewery in Lynchburg
Fine Creek Brewing Now Open – Facebook/Website
There’s a new brewery out inPowhatan. It opened up over the weekend. I didn’t find out about this until yesterday as I was lounging around the pool so I’ve not got a ton of details for you. The following is gleaned from their Facebook. They’re open from 3-8 PM on Thursday and Friday, Saturday and Sunday they’re open 12-7PM. Located at 2425 Robert E Lee Road and calling themselves a farmhouse brewery (picture below in BEERSTAGRAM). I’ve included what they served up opening weekend to give you an idea of what to expect. One important note, other than service dogs, dogs are not allowed at the brewery so leave Fido at home.
