Friday is National Ride Your Bike to Work Day. A day to celebrate the human powered two wheeled conveyance known as the bicycle. Hopefully it motivates a few bikers to ride into work for the first time and realize just how easy and fun the ride can be. Perhaps it even becomes a habit. If it does you’ll save money, get exercise, and get a unique view of our city that you can’t see at 40 MPH.
Below are details of the Mayor’s ride and how you can participate. There will be pastries.
Let’s celebrate National Bike to Work Day (B2WD) with a casual morning ride with Mayor Levar Stoney! It’s the first B2WD of his term, so come out to show him how much biking means to you. And the weather looks to be amazing!
Ride with Mayor Stoney details:
Bike Walk RVA will be set up in Kanawha Plaza with coffee and pastries starting at 8 AM. Mayor Stoney will join us at Kanawha Plaza between 8:30-8:45 AM. We will then do a short ride to Brown’s Island, across the T. Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge, and pause on the south side of the river for an exciting announcement about the Richmond Riverfront Plan before heading back north to City Hall, where we will end the ride. Join us!
In a hurry to get to work?
Snacks, water, and coffee will be available at various commuter aid stations in the city from 7 to 9 AM. Swing by on your way to work, grab some refreshments and info, and arrive to work STOKED ON LIFE.
